Effective Date: July 10, 2026
MeetTV ("we," "our," or "us") operates the MeetTV Android TV Launcher application and the accompanying administrative web portal at this address. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of the personal information and device credentials you manage through our services.
1. Information We Collect
To facilitate TV registration, device pairing, and customizable media rendering, we collect the following categories of information:
- Google Account Credentials (Login): When you authenticate via Google Sign-In, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture avatar. This information is utilized solely to verify your account identity, unlock administrative custom modifications, and map your user account to your paired TV screens.
- TV Registration Code (ID): A unique, randomly-generated 12-character alphanumeric code (e.g. A123-B234-C567) generated on first boot by the Android TV launcher. This acts as the secure, non-personally identifiable mapping key between your physical TV and your configurations.
- Network Settings: We collect the local IPv4 address of the Android TV device solely for diagnostic display on the screen, enabling developers and administrators to debug local connection issues.
- HDMI-CEC Device Descriptors: Our TV Input scanning library queries active passthrough HDMI ports. If an external device (such as a PlayStation or Apple TV) broadcasts its CEC device descriptor, we retrieve this name (e.g., "PlayStation 5") to list it inside the TV Input popup selector.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use the collected data for the following essential purposes:
- To register and pair physical Android TV hardware screens to user configuration accounts.
- To synchronize custom background styles (Gradients, loop videos, and custom Pexels images) between the administrative portal and the active TV launcher.
- To store your preferences (such as enabling/disabling casting services like Google Cast, Miracast, and Apple AirPlay) and cache them offline inside the TV's SharedPreferences storage.
3. Data Storage & Security
Security is our highest priority. We store configuration details in a secure database structure, protected against unauthorized access.
- Local Cache Falling Back: Configuration values are cached in SharedPreferences locally on the Android TV launcher, allowing full offline-first operations without crashes.
- Encryption in Transit: All client-server communication between the mobile app, Node.js backend services, and Next.js user dashboards is encrypted using HTTPS / TLS protocols in production.
- Zero Data Sharing: We do not sell, rent, or distribute your email addresses, Google profile metadata, or device layouts to third-party advertising companies.
4. Google Developer Policy Compliance
Our integration with Google Identity Services complies fully with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We request only the minimum necessary profile permissions required to authenticate users and enable customization forms.
